Journey to Jim’s House

Hai sa mergem impreuna in Romania!  Travel together to Romania!

The weather is getting better, exercise helps us feel better, and what could be more rewarding than helping some incredibly special young people  Alex, Iount and Bianca in Jim’s House, Igishi Nou, Romania.

Jim’s House was established in 2019 so that three young people, Alex Bianca and Ionut could live there instead of being moved to an Adult Institution.  None of us who knew them and what it was like in an adult institution could bear the thought of them going there.  The cost of their care to SHARE is £2000 a month.  A large amount to find and sustain into the future.

Normally during the months from June to August we support therapy volunteers to work in Sibiu, Romania, but this year we invite you to travel with us on a sponsored virtual journey of 1560 miles to Romania and back to help those three young people.

The journey will begin on 26th June and for those of us who can make it will start with a photo taken on the steps at Coventry Cathedral at 12 midday and will end on 31st August back at the Cathedral.

For the journey you can include any form of exercise or combine walking, running, jogging, cycling, swimming, golfing, exercise bike or treadmill and why not include pushing the pram, walking the kids to school, and taking the dog out. Do what you want for as long as you want – the miles will all add up in our ultra-inclusive event!

For further information see our FAQs attachment.

Can you also be a Travel Agent by telling your family, friends, and colleagues and encouraging them to have a go? The attached poster maybe helpful.

The goal is to raise at least £3,120 – (a pound a mile) and so we need as many travelers as possible

It may take a while but hopefully we can do it.
